How to Disable Automatic Defrag on Asus VivoBook S400CA
Disk Defragmenter is a Windows tool that helps you organize the files on your hard disk so your Asus VivoBook S400CA will run better. Although this process is advisable for systems to run smoothly, overdoing this task regularly consumes CPU resources, slows down your Asus VivoBook S400CA as a consequence and shortens the life span of your hard drive in the long run. If you like to run the defrag tool when you want to, you can disable the automatic process.
1. Click on the “Start” menu and then click on “Run”. Type “regedit” in the command line and hit “Enter.”
2. Expand the following sub-keys: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,” “SOFTWARE,” “Microsoft,” “Dfrg” and click once on the “BootOptimizerFunction” folder.
3. Seek a value named “Enable” on the pane, double click on it. Type the letter “N” in the “Value Data” text field and then click “OK” to save your changes.
You can also use a different method.
1. Click on the Windows “Start” menu and then click on “Control Panel” on your Asus VivoBook S400CA.
2. Click on “Control Panel Home,” and click “System and Maintenance.” Click the “Defragment your hard drive” option in the “Administrative Tools” section.
3. Uncheck the “Run automatically” check box. Click “OK”.
